Deuteronomy 11:1-32

God’s laws set boundaries in our lives so that we can freely enjoy His blessings.

In this chapter, we learn that love and obedience go hand in hand.
Love is our prime motivation to obey God’s laws. We obey God’s laws because He loves us. God promises to bring blessings to us if we obey Him.

How can we say that God shows His love to us when we obey His laws/ words?  Do all these laws actually restrict us from enjoying God’s blessings?
God’s laws are like boundaries to protect us.  For instance, do not touch the hot stove.
The Bible says ‘Then we shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.’ John 8:32 We experience true freedom by obeying His words.
Dr. Robert Augustus Masters, a relationship expert in an article entitled “Boundaries Make Freedom Possible” made the following statement:
“Real freedom, however, is not about having no limitations;
rather it is about finding liberation within- and also through- limitation (as when the apparent constraints of committed monogamous relationship actually enrich and deepen the relationship).
Real freedom does not mind limitations and in fact is not limited by them.”

We are free to enjoy God’s blessings if we carefully obey His words.         —- Alan Yam
